A special "Someone" suggested that some of my paintings had a lonely look to them.  I suppose this one would fall into that category. This little tree looks quite alone, but peaceful too.

Since I can remember from my earliest childhood, I have always been fascinated by the heavens. I seriously intended to be the first woman on the moon. But God had better plans for me. I feel like I have about as many Grandchildren, sometimes, as the number of stars you see on this painting. The more I look at this painting, I think the two larger stars could be Mike and me, the 3 smaller stars, Annie, Carrie and Jeremy, and the distant stars, the grandchildren and those to come and some whose first glimpse of light was in Heaven. This is no real place, that I know of. Just imagined it.

I have listed a bunch of paintings on eBay. I have gone through some of my paintings and tried to clean house. I need to find homes for these paintings. Most of them are smaller, from 5x5 to 10x20, but as I said, mostly smaller. These painting are some that were done for fun, and made up. Some were from lessons that I had taken. I have tried to keep the prices lower on these paintings.

Sunflowers - For Rose Marie

Sunflowers
6x6 Oil on Gesso Board
For Rose Marie

This is my first real attempt at painting sunflowers. There are a few first for me on the blog. They were quite fun. I think I will do this again. This painting was done from a photo that I took when we were visiting and organic farm here in Ohio. Yes, we try to do organic, as much as we can. I have a nice organic garden going in my back yard and some volunteer sunflowers are coming up where the bird feeder was. Maybe I will paint some of them when they get to blooming really well.

I was up late one night and just wanted to paint something simple, without a  lot of bother. So this painting is just made up out of my imagination. If I stay up to paint, sometimes it can turn into an all nighter. I just can't quit. I've been trying not to do that lately. I think it messes up my circadian rhythm.

Sydney's Horse - A Gift

Sydney is my oldest Grandchild. I painted this for her birthday a while back, so it isn't for sale, but I thought I would just post it anyway. (And while I am waiting to finish up one that I am working on for posting) It is a larger painting, oil on stretched canvas. When I painted this Sydney did not have a horse. Now she has two and they look nothing like this one, which is just an impressionistic dream horse anyway. Her horses now are dark brown and a brown and white Paint horse. I would like to do the Paint horse one day. That is one of my favorite kinds. I think this is the only actual horse painting that I have done.

Early Snow - SOLD

Early Snow
8x10
This painting is SOLD
Please visit my Etsy Shop HERE

This is an original acrylic painting on stretched canvas. It is back stapled and finished on all sides. It can be hung with or without a frame.

It is so hot so many places that I thought this might help cool us off!! Doesn't it make you feel cooler just looking at it?! It is 96 degrees and 107 heat index! So this snow is looking pretty good to me right now. I would love to go outside and take a hike, but there is no way with it this hot. When it is winter, at least I can bundle up and take a walk in the quite of the snow. Just give us six months and it might be at least 100 degrees difference in the temperature than what it is right now. What an amazing thought.

I love the detail of this tree that is in the spotlight. I really enjoy painting these bare trees. They can have so much character.

Miss Annie's Hydrangea - SOLD

Miss Annie's Hydrangea
10x8 Oil on gesso board
This painting is SOLD
Please visit my Etsy Shop HERE

This Original Painting was a study in using only cool colors. It is more
challenging than you might think.
Miss Annie is my maternal Grandmother, who was called
"Miss Annie" by many who knew her. She had hydrangeas
down most of one side of her house in Memphis. They always
make me think of her.

Three Bottles

   Three Bottles
8x8 Oil on Gesso Board

I'm working some more with still lifes. I really enjoyed doing this one.
I hope you like it too. I am anxious to get to the next one. I already
have it picked out. Funny, looking at my paintings, I think I need to
on to some different colors. They are all the same. Guess I like those colors!

Just for Fun - SOLD

Just for Fun!
     12x12 Oil on Stretched Canvas

I do so hate having paint left on my palette and it ends up dry and hard. Especially when I pay $25 for a little  tiny tube of paint. I see $$ signs every time I put out even a little half pea size blob of paint to use. And some colors are just plain expensive, especially the cadmiums, but oh they are so nice!! So sometimes when I have some paint left over, I will just do something like this painting, just so it doesn't go to waste. It usually works well because the colors are already complimentary from using them on a single painting. I have a couple more of these that I may post later. It's fun too!!This painting is on gallery wrapped, stretched canvas, and finished on all sides and ready to hang. This is the kind of painting that is often displayed without a frame.

Rocky and Missy's World - COMISSIONED

Rocky and Missy's World
24x36 Oil on Stretched Canvas
This painting is SOLD
Please visit my Etsy Shop HERE

This is a commission that has been at least a couple of months in the making. It has morphed so many times in trying to get it the way I wanted it to be.  My buyers, L.V. and Tamara pretty much left it up to me what to put in the painting. So this is truly an original for me. Tamara told me the colors she wanted, she said trees and a creek would be nice. So I just went with that and came up with this composition. L.V. and Tamara are having a beautiful new home built in Tennessee and will be moving in soon. I am so honored that they asked me to do a painting for their new home. I hope it will be just right for their colors and decor. They had already bought the frame they wanted so I took a photo of the painting with its new frame. I think it is perfect!
There is sort of a story with the painting. L.V came up with the idea. Not too long ago, Tamara's cat Rocky died, unexpectedly. Also, Tamara's step-dad passed away recently. He had had a Lhasa Apsa, Missy,  who was also recently deceased. So L.V. suggested putting the pets in the painting. You can enlarge the painting by clicking on it. If you will look at the end of the path toward the center left of the painting, you will see Rocky, the cat walking toward the cabin which is over the hillside. Beside Rocky is Missy, sitting and looking toward the cabin. I think there is some allegory here. You decide. I wanted them in the painting not as a focal point, but at the same time I feel like they are such a strong element of the painting. This really is "Rocky and Missy's World".

Before Planting

8x8 inch oil on canvas board
Available for $20 plus $5 shipping

I did this painting for two reasons ( I think they call it killing two birds with one stone).  One is for the Daily Paintworks weekly challenge. Been wanting to do that for some time and can't seem to get a round tuit. The subject is "The Outside Your Window Challenge". So this is the view outside our windows on the east side of our house. This is a closeup shot, as the field between us is really a lot larger than what is shown here.  This is the corn field in Ohio that I live by. (Excue bad grammer!) Only I think that this summer it will be a soy bean field. You can see this painting at DailyPaintworks.com  under the challenges. Anyone can do this challenge, if you are interested. The second reason for this painting is for an exercise with Nel, who is doing Prompts and Critiques for me this summer, using the Zorn Palette. This palette consists of Ivory Black, Yellow Orchre, Cadmium Red Light, White, and Cobalt Blue. I just learned about this today. It makes for some interesting colors and I think too, a rather harmonious effect, as Nel said. I am not listing a sale price yet. I am still doing some work on this one. Soon though!! Just wanted you to know I AM doing something! You can let me know if you are interested.

Memories of Cade's Cove

Memories of Cade's Cove

12x16 Oil on Stretched Canvas

Available for $95 plus $10 shipping
Please contact me.

This painting was done from a lesson. This isn't a specific place, but it does remind me of Cade's Cove, one of my favorite places. If you have ever been there you know how beautiful it is. This painting was from a lesson that I did.  Although this was a learning experience, I really love this one. The stretched canvas is gallery wrapped and beautifully finished on all sides, ready to hang, with or without a frame.

Speaking of learning experiences, some of you know already that I am working on a larger, 2x3 ft. commissioned painting. The buyers are building a beautiful new home. I am spending many hours on it and so have not done any other painting lately. Some of the more recent paintings that are posted are ones that I have done within the last couple of years or so. I am not posting progress on the commissioned painting because I want the buyer to be surprised and hopefully in a good way. They have left it up to me what to do with it, except for requests for using certain colors, and trees and a creek. It is coming along and I think it will be a good one, but I want it to be as good as I am capable of doing, for these special buyers! So, when it is finished, hopefully soon, I will post it then.

I remember as a child playing under a tree whose branches would enclose me. Such a cozy feeling. Just my own little world.  If I wasn't under the tree, I was probably up in it. I still enjoy those memories when I see a tree like that. A warm fuzzy feeling. I love this painting. This was done as a painting lesson.
