MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Here's hoping that you all have a wonderful time with your families, Pups included!
We are going to have the greatest time with all 17 grandchildren here with us at the same time. We are even letting their parents come too! And a Mother-in-law too! We are going to have one huge fun slumber party. It is a good thing we have plenty of floor space and don't mind being "cozy". And the puppies will get plenty of loving attention. This is our Christmas present. To have all of our children and their children together. It doesn't get any better, especially when you have such awesome kids!! And Grand-kids!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL

Glowing Hydrangeas - SOLD

Glowing Hydrangeas
6x6 Oil on linen covered birch board

I really like painting these hydrangeas. The leaves are a bit of a challenge for ME, getting the veins to go the right direction. I think I got it this time! Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this painting.

At the End of the Road - S0LD

At the End of the Road
20X16 inches on stretched canvas

This was one of my first attempts at painting an impressionistic style painting. I used to think the only way to paint was with realism. But impressionism is the thing these days. It is a fun way to paint. I look forward to doing some more like this.

Hazy Day - SOLD

Hazy Day
9x12 Oil on stretched canvas
This painting is Sold

This is a more impressionistic type painting. It has some nice soft colors of lavenders and blues to compliment the orange of the tree. I did this from a painting lesson. I have a few of those. Hopefully they are helping me learn to be a better painter. I think they are!
This painting is back stapled and finished on all sides, so it is ready to hang as is, or can be framed.

Into The Light - SOLD

Into The Light
16"x20" Oil on stretched canvas
Back stapled and finished on all sides

This is a painting that I did with a professional painting instructor. I have permission from the instructor to use this painting totally as my own. I think the sky has a nice touch  of drama to it. Since it is finished on all sides, it can be ready to hang, unframed, if you wish. I have sealed it with a coat of premium quality removable varnish.
I have been doing some studies with three different instructors in the past two years, all very different in their approach. I am trying very hard to use what I have learned from them and my own personal study, to enhance a technique that says "Janet Paden!" Not sure that I am there yet, but hopefully it will be heading in that direction!
I just returned from a trip to Middle and East Tennessee. So beautiful! Some trees were blooming, and a very few leaves were starting to peak out. That was more so in Middle Tennessee. Missed the daffodils there also. In East Tennessee, they are a little behind because of the higher altitude, but pretty, nonetheless. The Red Buds were beautiful, but I am sorry to say that we were about a week or so early with the Dogwoods. They did have the daffodils. Wish the Dogwoods had been bloomed since we have so few of them here in the north. We will get to see a second spring here though, hopefully soon. I did take a lot of photos in Tennessee and Kentucky that I hope will make some good subjects for future paintings.

Autumn Cherry Tree #1 - Commission

Well, here it is, above. I tweaked it. Hope it is better. I think it is. What do you think?

Autumn Cherry Tree
8x6 on stretched linen canvas
Commission

This is the first in a series of four trees that I will be painting. Tamara wants a tree painting in each of the for different seasons. This is an old gnarly cherry tree. The autumn one is finished, unless I think I want to tweak it some, which could happen. I am working on winter now. I think that is my favorite tree to paint, a bare winter tree. Coming up! And Snow!!

Natchez Trace Autumn - Spoken For - To my sister Dolly......

Natchez Trace Autumn
12x24 Oil on Canvas
Please visit my Etsy Shop HERE

This is a scene from the Old Natchez Trace Parkway in Middle Tennessee, very near to where my cousin Joyce Mullen lives and a little further from where my sister, Dolly Totty lives. This is such a beautiful part of the country.  I have revised this painting several times. I recently bought a tube of Cadmium Yellow oil paint and added some touches with it and some other colors in different areas. I am really liking this color. It is one that we will be using the in the workshop that I will be attending next week, with Kevin Menck. In fact, his color palette consists of 3 colors. Ultramarine, Cadmium Yellow and Cadmium Red, with Titanium white. This should be interesting. Since we will be painting plein air I need a special easel that make doing that much simpler and easier. Looking at the prices on those I have decided to make my own! I got the supplies last night. I think that took longer than it will to make it. I felt lost in that sea of bolts and nails. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ocean Sunset - SOLD

Ocean Sunset
16x20 Oil on stretched canvas
This painting is SOLD

This painting is side stapled, but the side is painted a dark color matching the painting. I can't remember painting an ocean scene before this one. I love the ocean and I think this one has some pretty interesting wave action going. I hope you like it too. I did this painting about 2 years ago, but it has just been sitting with some other paintings waiting for a home.

This is a small painting that I tried to do very quickly. I am wanting to work on loosening up. This one is and I really enjoy doing it.  This is a scene at the Carriage Hill Farm in Ohio. It is a very old farm, still a working farm and is open to the public. It is a very nice place to go and see how things were done in days gone by. There is a nice lake and walking trails also.

Alone at Sunset - SOLD

A special "Someone" suggested that some of my paintings had a lonely look to them.  I suppose this one would fall into that category. This little tree looks quite alone, but peaceful too.

Far Far Away - S0LD

This painting is SOLD

Since I can remember from my earliest childhood, I have always been fascinated by the heavens. I seriously intended to be the first woman on the moon. But God had better plans for me. I feel like I have about as many Grandchildren, sometimes, as the number of stars you see on this painting. The more I look at this painting, I think the two larger stars could be Mike and me, the 3 smaller stars, Annie, Carrie and Jeremy, and the distant stars, the grandchildren and those to come and some whose first glimpse of light was in Heaven. This is no real place, that I know of. Just imagined it.

I have listed a bunch of paintings on eBay. I have gone through some of my paintings and tried to clean house. I need to find homes for these paintings. Most of them are smaller, from 5x5 to 10x20, but as I said, mostly smaller. These painting are some that were done for fun, and made up. Some were from lessons that I had taken. I have tried to keep the prices lower on these paintings.

Sunflowers - For Rose Marie

Sunflowers
6x6 Oil on Gesso Board
For Rose Marie

This is my first real attempt at painting sunflowers. There are a few first for me on the blog. They were quite fun. I think I will do this again. This painting was done from a photo that I took when we were visiting and organic farm here in Ohio. Yes, we try to do organic, as much as we can. I have a nice organic garden going in my back yard and some volunteer sunflowers are coming up where the bird feeder was. Maybe I will paint some of them when they get to blooming really well.

I was up late one night and just wanted to paint something simple, without a  lot of bother. So this painting is just made up out of my imagination. If I stay up to paint, sometimes it can turn into an all nighter. I just can't quit. I've been trying not to do that lately. I think it messes up my circadian rhythm.

Sydney's Horse - A Gift

Sydney is my oldest Grandchild. I painted this for her birthday a while back, so it isn't for sale, but I thought I would just post it anyway. (And while I am waiting to finish up one that I am working on for posting) It is a larger painting, oil on stretched canvas. When I painted this Sydney did not have a horse. Now she has two and they look nothing like this one, which is just an impressionistic dream horse anyway. Her horses now are dark brown and a brown and white Paint horse. I would like to do the Paint horse one day. That is one of my favorite kinds. I think this is the only actual horse painting that I have done.

Early Snow - SOLD

Early Snow
8x10
This painting is SOLD
Please visit my Etsy Shop HERE

This is an original acrylic painting on stretched canvas. It is back stapled and finished on all sides. It can be hung with or without a frame.

It is so hot so many places that I thought this might help cool us off!! Doesn't it make you feel cooler just looking at it?! It is 96 degrees and 107 heat index! So this snow is looking pretty good to me right now. I would love to go outside and take a hike, but there is no way with it this hot. When it is winter, at least I can bundle up and take a walk in the quite of the snow. Just give us six months and it might be at least 100 degrees difference in the temperature than what it is right now. What an amazing thought.

I love the detail of this tree that is in the spotlight. I really enjoy painting these bare trees. They can have so much character.

Miss Annie's Hydrangea - SOLD

Miss Annie's Hydrangea
10x8 Oil on gesso board
This painting is SOLD

This Original Painting was a study in using only cool colors. It is more
challenging than you might think.
Miss Annie is my maternal Grandmother, who was called
"Miss Annie" by many who knew her. She had hydrangeas
down most of one side of her house in Memphis. They always
make me think of her.

Three Bottles

   Three Bottles
8x8 Oil on Gesso Board

I'm working some more with still lifes. I really enjoyed doing this one.
I hope you like it too. I am anxious to get to the next one. I already
have it picked out. Funny, looking at my paintings, I think I need to
on to some different colors. They are all the same. Guess I like those colors!

Just for Fun - SOLD

Just for Fun!
     12x12 Oil on Stretched Canvas

I do so hate having paint left on my palette and it ends up dry and hard. Especially when I pay $25 for a little  tiny tube of paint. I see $$ signs every time I put out even a little half pea size blob of paint to use. And some colors are just plain expensive, especially the cadmiums, but oh they are so nice!! So sometimes when I have some paint left over, I will just do something like this painting, just so it doesn't go to waste. It usually works well because the colors are already complimentary from using them on a single painting. I have a couple more of these that I may post later. It's fun too!!This painting is on gallery wrapped, stretched canvas, and finished on all sides and ready to hang. This is the kind of painting that is often displayed without a frame.
