Memories of Cade's Cove

Memories of Cade's Cove

12x16 Oil on Stretched Canvas

Available for $95 plus $10 shipping
Please contact me.

This painting was done from a lesson. This isn't a specific place, but it does remind me of Cade's Cove, one of my favorite places. If you have ever been there you know how beautiful it is. This painting was from a lesson that I did.  Although this was a learning experience, I really love this one. The stretched canvas is gallery wrapped and beautifully finished on all sides, ready to hang, with or without a frame.

Speaking of learning experiences, some of you know already that I am working on a larger, 2x3 ft. commissioned painting. The buyers are building a beautiful new home. I am spending many hours on it and so have not done any other painting lately. Some of the more recent paintings that are posted are ones that I have done within the last couple of years or so. I am not posting progress on the commissioned painting because I want the buyer to be surprised and hopefully in a good way. They have left it up to me what to do with it, except for requests for using certain colors, and trees and a creek. It is coming along and I think it will be a good one, but I want it to be as good as I am capable of doing, for these special buyers! So, when it is finished, hopefully soon, I will post it then.
***If you would like to receive an email letting you know when I post something new, please  go to my blog subscribe at the top right and you can also become a follower below that.
Thanks for all that take the time to look at the blog!!***

I remember as a child playing under a tree whose branches would enclose me. Such a cozy feeling. Just my own little world.  If I wasn't under the tree, I was probably up in it. I still enjoy those memories when I see a tree like that. A warm fuzzy feeling. I love this painting. This was done as a painting lesson.

This is a more impressionistic type painting. It has some nice soft colors of lavenders and blues to compliment the orange of the tree. I did this from a painting lesson. I have a few of those. Hopefully they are helping me learn to be a better painter. I think they are!
This painting is back stapled and finished on all sides, so it is ready to hang as is, or can be framed.

Busy Bumble Bee

Maybe I should have named my blog Janet Paden's Paintings and Photography. Spring is having a hard time coming here in Ohio. It snowed on me when I drove to Columbus two days ago. But I hope today that I can hang clothes out on the line. The daffodils are blooming, but no trees yet, although the crab apples are just aching to burst out!
I am in the mood for something Springy, so I chose this photo. It is one that I took last summer when my grandson and I were out hiking. I was actually just photographing the flowers and didn't realize until later that I had captured this Bumble Bee busy at his daily work.
To those of you who are fortunate enough to have Spring already, enjoy!

This is a scene from Oklahoma. If you have been there during a storm, you know that they DO have lightning just like this. When my husband (then boyfriend) and I were going to school at Oklahoma Christian University, we would lie out on the open hillside in the evening and just watch the lightning show. Not too smart, huh! But it sure was amazing.

This is the Japan Challenge and all proceeds from the paintings will be donated to helping the victims of Japan. I have chosen the Japan Red Cross to receive the money from this painting, should it sell. Please consider this and remember those so very unfortunate ones in Japan, and how blessed we are here.

These small paintings on the gesso board are very nice for setting on one of the small decorative table top easels. They are about 1/8th inch thick. This might be pretty sitting on someones desk to brighten it up a bit! Or an end table in your living room.

Grandmother's Hydrangea - SOLD

Grandmother's Hydrangea
Oil on 6"x6" gesso board
This painting is SOLD

I have always thought it looked so hard to paint a hydrangea and never dared to try it, until now. I recently saw a good instructional video for just that. I gave it a try and came to find out that it isn't hard at all. The leaves were the biggest challenge. Hydrangeas always remind me of my Grandmother Tisdale. She had them growing all down one side of her house in Memphis, long ago.

The Rose - SOLD

This little painting was done for the DPW (Daily Paintworks) Challenge. I have not done anything like a rose for well over 30 years.! So it needs some, uh, refining. Not quite happy with it, but I am going to leave it as it is, for now.  For information about the DPW see the below website.

Blue Bowl and Clementines

Blue Bowl and Clementines
Oil on canvas (*See below)4 1/2"x6"
$15, free shipping
Pay with PayPal or Check
Please visit my Etsy Shop HERE

*This painting is done on a piece of canvas pad, which is artist canvas, but no support, just the flat canvas. It could be cut to a 4"x6" to fit that size frame and be a very cute painting for decorating. 1/2 inch off of the bottom would work just fine.
Just add a little color! This little painting was done using only three colors, cobalt blue, cadmium orange and white.
